ADO 501 National Championship and USA Dart Classic - Aug 6 - 8, 2010

The ADO 501 Nationals started Friday morning with a new format than the years past. The top 10 from the winning side being either the east or west coast and the top 6 from the losing side made it to the knockout.
This year everyone made it to the knockout and we played for seeding position. I made it out of my section as the #10 overall seed and secured a first round bye. First up in the round of 32 was Adam Sevada from the Phoenix area where I was able to scrape out a 3-2 win. In the last 16 I played Davis Snider who I’ve had good success against over the years but is never an easy win. Davis went on to beat me 3-1 and played very well. Congrats mate. Also, congratulations to Darin Young on winning his 3 National title!!! Although coming into this tournament I was playing lights out it ended up being a total bust. I cashed in a few events (early money) but the weekend was made up of me going a few rounds before going out in almost all events. Thanks to my partners for the weekend Tim O’Gorman and Brenda Roush who both played great and we had a lot of fun. The highlight of the weekend was being asked to play with Miles Gallagher in the adult youth event. Even with the early start we were able to pull out the win. Miles played awesome taking over once we hit 170 never messing around hitting most doubles in his first couple darts. If you have never seen this kid play check him out at future tournaments as he is a definite star in the game for many years to come. Miles won the youth National Championships and will represent USA in the world masters later this year something I have fond memories from way back in 1987 when I represented Canada. I am sure Miles will do great and I for one will be watching. Congratulations to Miles on his win! Thanks to the crew at LB Darts for a top shelf tournament as always.
